Bungie has filed two trademark applications for "Become Legend," the slogan used in marketing material for the studio's new online shooter Destiny.
The applications were filed June 13 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and cover computer game software and alternate reality and online games.
Bungie previously filed trademark applications for Glimmer, Fallen, Hive, Cabal, and Vex related to Destiny.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said the once-exclusive Wii U version of
"What happened was that we saw the Wii U was not going to sell enough," said Guillemot in an interview with VentureBeat. "The game is going to be fantastic, and we didnt want those creators to wind up in a position where even after making a fantastic game, they didnt sell well enough."
"We decided that we had to come out on enough machines that players can try it out on any one that they have, and give more time to both improve the game on the Wii U and create versions for the other consoles."
Despite news of the delay
As an apology to Wii U owners, Ubisoft released the game's
"I think it will be one of the best games weve ever done," concluded Guillemot.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be a launch title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Ubisoft game director Ashraf Ismail told ElderGeek in a new video interview.
"We are launch titles for those platforms," he said.
The Xbox One
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag launch in North America on October 29.
Ismail also revealed that the the PC version of the game will launch "a few weeks after" the current-generation console iterations.
"We're working hard on the PC version," Ismail said. "It's one of the main platforms we work on in the office. For our PC fans, don't worry. The game on PC looks phenomenal."
Every entry in the core Assassin's Creed has come to PC, though in each case, the PC version launched after the console iterations.
You know whats funny about that is, we were all watching the Xbox One reveal event in our theater, said Infinity Wards senior community manager Tina Palacios in an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun.
Riley has become something of a cult favourite since his original introduction as part of the Xbox One reveal event in May. After the initial reaction online--both positive and negative--Activision and Infinity Ward further detailed the canine companion
We didnt expect any of this at all," added Palacios, adding that after the community response "the studio became divided. Half of them said, Ok, the dog absolutely has to die. And then the other half--Im on this half--said, Whoa, no way! People love him."
"Its a constant debate, but we do have an answer.
Palacios adds that while Riley's hi-tech arsenal--flip-up camera, an earpiece, and two vibrating devices--might sound implausible, Infinity Ward has grounded the dog's equipment in reality.
We actually had a couple Navy SEALs come in with their dogs that served in combat in Iraq," she said. "When we met them, they did have the same type of gear on, and they had cameras on their backs. Their trainer has a camera on their arm, so when they throw a dog into a building or into a room or over a wall, they can see whats going on. If theyre far away, they can also give them instructions with a collar that vibrates on each side.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released for current and next-generation platforms in 2013.
With the PlayStation 4 on the horizon, some gamers may have expected Sony to announce a price cut for the aging PlayStation 3. Such a measure is not happening, at least not yet, according to United Kingdom PlayStation marketing director Fergal Gara.
"There's no plans as yet," Gara told GamesIndustry International. "The PlayStation 3 is a system where it hasn't been particularly easy to get the costs down."
Gara explained that Sony is examining opportunities for a price cut, but whatever the case, he believes the console will appeal to consumers as an "entry level" machine in the years to come.
"We continue to look at opportunities, there may or may not be any more, I genuinely can't answer to that," he continued. "But it will certainly be a more keenly priced machine in relative to PlayStation 4. It will sit there as a viable entry level machine for years to come. It will be different by territory as to how long its life is. There's still a lot of love for PS3."
The PS3 currently retails for $300, while the PS4 will
Respawn Entertainment was founded by Call of Duty creators Jason West and Vince Zampella and is staffed up by a slew of former Infinity Ward developers, but the company's new game Titanfall is not aiming to take down Activision's juggernaut shooter series.
That sentiment comes from Zampella, who told GamesIndustry International that Respawn's ambition for Titanfall is to do "something different."
"Honestly, we're not shipping the same time as them. We're going for something different. We're not gunning for Call of Duty. We're doing our thing," Zampella said. "The important thing is to make sure what we're doing is fun. I'm OK with Call of Duty being big. I helped create it, so I'm proud to see it's something so big that it goes beyond me."
Titanfall is an online-focused multiplayer shooter that will not feature a traditional single-player campaign like the Call of Duty games have.
Zampella said making a strictly multiplayer game was an adept appropriation of resources, because in his experience "people spend hundreds of hours in the multiplayer experiences versus 'as little time as possible rushing to the end' [in single-player."
Titanfall launches during spring 2014 exclusively for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Meanwhile, Call of Call of Duty: Ghosts arrives this November.
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has rebuffed the notion that the
"It puts no pressure on us at all," said Fils-Aime in an interview with Kotaku. "Sony and Microsoft are going to do what they're going to do. My bet is that there are going to be more announcements the closer we get to whatever their launch date is."
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has recently said
"From my perspective, I can't focus on that. I have to focus on: How do we satisfy the needs of all of the consumers out there with Nintendo products? How do we make sure they understand our proposition? How do we make sure they're excited about the software that we offer? And from that standpoint we're going to let our competition do what they're going to do."
Elsewhere in the interview, Fils-Aime acknowledges that the original Wii had a launch advantage over its successor thanks to the inclusion of Wii Sports.
"I would say the big difference in the Wii launch vs. the Wii U launch is that, at the [Wii] launch we had a fantastic game in Wii Sports that really helped people understand the magic of the Wii Remote, and we had Zelda. We had Zelda there at the launch to satisfy the [core] player and when you look at what we had at the launch for Wii U, yes we had a Mario game--a fantastic Mario game that has a very strong attach rate to the hardware--but there wasn't as many opportunities for the [core] player to really get behind the system."
After The Bureau: XCOM Declassified launches August 20, the game will live on through various story-driven expansion packs, 2K Games and 2K Marin announced today.
The first expansion will arrive exclusively for Xbox 360 players, though 2K said PC and PlayStation 3 gamers can also expect new content down the road.
"The alternate 1962 universe that we've created for The Bureau is vast and there are many more stories to tell about the early days of XCOM," development director Morgan Gray said in a statement.
In addition, 2K announced today that those who preorder The Bureau at participating retailers will score a bonus campaign side-mission titled Codebreakers. In this mission, players and their squad must travel to a "top secret government communications facility" to bring the center back online.
On top of the Codebreakers mission, gamers who preorder The Bureau at GameStop will get the Light Plasma Pistol for use in-game.
The Bureau is set in 1962 America at the end of the Cold War. John F. Kennedy is president and the U.S. public at large is afraid of a nuclear war with Russia. At the same time, the US government is establishing a secret organization to combat this threat. As it turns out, it's not the Russians who invade, it's the aliens.
Described as a third-person tactical squad-based combat game, The Bureau borrows from the praised XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Specifically, the new game will adopt the pillars of the strategy series--Team, Tactics, Tools, Technology, and Terror--and introduce them to players in a new way.

The PlayStation 4's user interface has been shown off in a new video published by Sony today. The video first emerged last week, though Sony would not confirm if it was authentic until today.
The 3-minute clip shows that players will be able to "Like" certain game activities and have the option of downloading a game's single-player or multiplayer component first for digital titles.
The video also reveals the typing interface players can use to write messages to friends, as well as how the Share functionality will work, among other things.

Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton has said during a Forbes interview that demand for the PS4 may exceed its supply.
Tretton said that "given the technology that [SCE is] offering, given the software lineup, given the price point we have, that [it will] have consumers interested in excess of what [the company is] able to manufacture." He was also told by GameStop executives last week that GameStop would buy "every single unit" Sony could manufacture. Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House said a week before that the demand for the PS4 "may well outstrip supply".
Tretton said during Sony's E3 2013 press conference last week that PS4 games would not need regular online check-ins and disc-based PS4 games could be traded. For more information, check out
A few lines of code in the latest Steam client beta suggests that Steam users may be able to share their games with other users on their friends list.
According to a post from Neogaf by user "Grief.exe", the discovered lines of code suggest that users may eventually be able to loan out games in their library and take them back at any time. The relevant code of text from the client are as follows:
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title" "Shared game library"
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_OwnerText" "Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it's time to quit."

The latest issue of Famitsu (via Final Fantasy Network) says that publisher Square Enix is still undecided on whether to release a PC version of Final Fantasy XV.
According to Square Enix's chief technology officer Yoshihisa Hashimoto, if a PC version were to be released, it would require an expensive machine to run. Hashimoto said that the company was waiting to gauge audience demand before making a decision on a PC version.
Hashimoto added that FFXV is being developed in a PC environment and that platforms that support DirectX 11 will be likely candidates for the game, hence the next-generation leap to the PS4 and Xbox One.
Square Enix is also considering using the PlayStation Vita for cross-platform functions for FFXV. Smartphones and tablets are also on the table for various FFXV-related features and apps.

Update: The 4.45 firmware update has been taken down from the site. Sony Computer Entertainment is currently fixing the problem. Users are advised not to update their PS3s until further notice.
Problems are arising with Sony's latest update to the PS3, according to comments on the official PlayStation forum .
Several user comments on the PlayStation forum have stated that the latest 4.45 update is causing a lockdown on their consoles. The user tried restarting the console, but the same problem still persisted.

GameSpot has reached out to Sony for comment and will update this article as more information surfaces.
The latest Guilty Gear game may be brought over to next generation consoles, according to an interview on Siliconera with Arc System Works president Minoru Kidooka.
Kidooka said that the company will reveal more information on Guilty Gear Xrd's North American release at next year's E3. The game's creator, Daisuke Ishiwatari, will make an appearance by then. Kidooka added that the company is confirmed to be a PS4 developer.
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- was announced on May 19 during Arc System Works' 25th anniversary event held in Japan. The game will be built on the Unreal Engine and is using 3D models for the first time in the series. The characters confirmed so far are Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Eddie and Millia Rage.
Nintendo's first venture into the free-to-play gaming realm will be a new Steel Diver title.
According to an IGN report, Nintendo senior managing director Shigeru Miyamoto said that the new game based on the side-scrolling submarine-piloting title will be focused on multiplayer. "We're exploring [the game's design] from a perspective where we can take that from a multiplayer standpoint - it's going to have this four-player battle mode that I think is going to be very interesting."
Nintendo has not confirmed a platform and release date for the new Steel Diver at this point in time, though CEO Satoru Iwata said last week during E3 that the game would be out this fiscal year (which ends in March 2014). For more information on the first Steel Diver game, head to
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has directly addressed the reason why the Wii U console has sold poorly.
In an interview with CNBC, he discussed why Nintendo's newest console, the Wii U, has not met sales expectations.
"We are to blame. We relaxed our [marketing] efforts, so the consumers today still cannot understand what's so good and unique about the Wii U," Iwata said.
"We have been unsuccessful in coming up with one single software with which people can understand, 'OK, this is really different.' As long as people have hands-on [experience], they can appreciate the value of the Wii U, but because there's not software that's simple and obvious for people as 'Wii Sports' for the Wii, potential consumers do not feel like trying the Wii U."
The Wii U console sold 3.45 million units worldwide for the 2012-13 fiscal year, which ended March 2013.
Nintendo cut its Wii U sales forecast in January as a result of lower-than-anticipated sales. Expectations were set for 4 million units sold, down from an initial target of 5.5 million.
The publisher predicts that it will sell 9 million Wii U consoles worldwide over the course of the coming financial year. Plans to return the company to profitability were outlined in its full-year earnings report, which focused on releasing "key" first-party titles during the second half of 2013 and through next year. The company has also said it will improve Wii U sales by "communicating the compelling nature of our hardware and software" through Miiverse.
The Wii U sold 425,000 units during its first week of launch, 50,000 consoles short of the original Wii's first-week sales tally of 475,000 units in 2006. To date, over 40 million original Wii consoles have been sold in the US.

America-based competitive eSports team Complexity Gaming has announced the signing of the 18-year old League of Legends player Patrick "MegaZero" Glinsman to their roster. Complexity has signed Glinsman to a 8-month deal instead of the industry-standard one-year contract, as to lineup all of Complexitys players under the same time frame.
Glinsman joins Complexity as their new top-laner, replacing Nicholas Wu "Nickwu" Smith who was removed from the team recently. Glinsman, former star of the now defunct League Championship Series upstart Team MRN, has been staying with the Complexity team at their team house in Los Angeles for the last three weeks since MRN's disbandment. Glinsmans time at the house has proved to be a fruitful relationship between the Complexity players and management, leading to todays announcement.
"After the post-LCS closure of Team MRN, Megazero needed a place to stay," Complexity Owner Jason Lake told GameSpot. "Our guys offered a spot at the coL.LoL team house here in LA. There was immediate chemistry and everyone was very impressed with his attitude, work ethic and skill. We're very happy to have Patrick on the team and wish Nickwu the very best in the future."
Since MRN's tumble out of the LCS, Glinsman has been a sub on Cloud 9, currently the only undefeated team in the North American Season 3 Summer Split. Complexity, the other team knocked out of this year's North American LCS, is relying on Glinsmans big playmaking ability to lead them back into the big leagues. Glinsman feels he has found the right team to mesh with, and his time to return as a starter.
"People are curious as to why I would choose Complexity over other teams, and honestly, they have the highest potential of any team," Glinsman told GameSpot. "Just practicing with them in scrims, I can tell the difference between Complexity and other teams. They take it seriously, and more importantly, they learn from their mistakes and are always improving.
"Just recently, we had a pretty impressive display in the MLG Qualifiers and we hope to win MLG as a whole. Something people don't realize is, if you're going to be living in a house with your team and you want to easily communicate and improve, you have to be friends with your teammates. I love all the members of Complexity and I hope together we will re-qualify for LCS next season!"
Glinsman replaces Smith, brother of his former teammate on MRN, Clark "ClakeyD" Douglas Smith. While both teams only squared off against each other three times during LCS, Glinsman knows he has a tough act to follow.
"Nickwu was an exceptional top-laner and in the LCS, he carried his team through some pretty grim looking games," Glinsman said. "Nick has always been a good friend as he's the brother of my former teammate, ClakeyD. I'll do my best to make everyone proud, especially Nickwu and ClakeyD because they're pretty amazing people!"
With Riot's League Championship Series as the pinnacle of League of Legends competition, returning to the league is Complexity's ultimate goal. Teams who have failed to qualify for LCS have been seen to disband entirely a short time after, or make heavy roster changes. This is not the plan for Complexity.
"LCS is obviously the pinnacle and goal for each team but it's not the only opportunity," Lake said, adamant about supporting players in the industry. "Our sights are set on a return as soon as possible but our plan is to support this squad regardless."
Complexity will make their team debut at Major League Gamings Spring Championships in Anaheim, California, later this month.
